Our Trade
Raw East Africa undertakes field visits to explore, identify, prepare, process, or source any desired minerals in the countries of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo. Our comprehensive service solutions cover the entire value chain, including logistical support and assistance with export from our territories.
Our business adheres to the highest standards of excellence, integrity, honesty, transparency, and compliance. We mine and source all our minerals following the highest ethical and responsible mine trading framework and provide the most efficient and competitive terms to our customers.
Post Mining Rehabilitation
As miners, we know we must ensure that no net loss in land capability occurs and our primary objective in rehabilitating mined land is to combat the misuse of rehabilitated land by the new owner or leaseholders, we have strict and careful post-closure land-use guidelines that the local government, mining rehabilitation practitioners, and the new landowner need to agree upon upfront.
Raw East Africa’s post-mining regeneration priorities include the restoration of the land surface of sufficient quality to support pre-mining land use potential. In many instances, the pre-mining environment consists of a biodiverse grassland and tree cover of varying agricultural and wildlife potential.
We discourage the use of commercially available seeds which in most cases have high nutrient, fertilization, water requirements and prevent the re-establishment of previous biodiverse grass and tree cover. We encourage and use the local seeds from our nurseries and those from the local communities.
To meet environment audits, we ensure the plant cover(grass & trees) does not deteriorate. And try to use native plant species to get effective biosystem restoration. We advocate for effective and sustainable mining practices, with hindsight for future rehabilitation options. For this reason, we also partner with construction & real estate groups that use the deep mining nutrient-poor soil so our footprint on covering and dumping on the nutrient-rich topsoil is minimal.
